In Western Australia, Beta Hunt is an operating underground mine which is in possession of all required permits. The mine has no processing plant or tailings impoundment facility on site however Karora remains committed to operating to the highest level of environmental standards. The mine provides direct employment and significant contractor engagement to personnel located in both the Kambalda and Kalgoorlie regions.
The Higginsville Gold Operations (“HGO) is an operating mine with a mineral processing and tailings facility and is in possession of all required permits. As with Beta Hunt, Karora remains committed to operating HGO to the highest level of environmental standards. The Project covers over 1,800 km2 and has a significant footprint including tailings storage facilities, an operating processing facility, open pits, and haul roads. The workforce and contractor engagement is comprised of a combination of fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) and local personnel who reside in regional towns such as Norseman, Kambalda, Kalgoorlie and Esperance.
Both mines are located in the state of Western Australia, which was ranked as the top jurisdiction in the world for mining investment by the Fraser Institute in its 2019 survey.
